Adventures of Don Juan, The

THE ADVENTURES OF DON JUAN

US, 1948, 110 minutes, Colour.
Errol Flynn, Viveca Lindfors, Robert Douglas, Alan Hale, Ann Rutherford, Robert Warwick, Una O' Connor, Aubrey Mather, Raymond Burr.
Directed by Vincent Sherman.

The Adventures Of Don Juan comes rather late in Errol Flynn's swashbuckling adventure career. With Captain Blood and many other costume epics directed by Michael Curtiz and Raoul Walsh in the '30s and early 140s, he was one of the most popular heroes of Hollywood. In the '40s he moved into war adventures as well as westerns. He declined in popularity in the late '40s and early 150s although he made many adventure films. Despite the title, the film has very little to do with the traditional Don Juan and is really a costume epic but this time with a Spanish setting. It has the usual Flynn ingredients and is quite entertaining though not as striking
as his earlier films.
