Forced Vengeance

FORCED VENGEANCE

US, 1982, 90 minutes, Colour.
Chuck Norris, Mary Lousie Weller, David Opatushu.
Directed by James Fargo.

Forced Vengeance is one of many Chuck Norris martial arts vehicles of the early '80s. He became popular in such films as The Good Guys Wear Black, A Force of One, The Octagon. He was directed by Steve Carver (Drum, Capone) in An Eye For An Eye. The best quality Norris martial arts film was Lone Wolf Mc Quade.

The film has all the popular ingredients of a television police story. There is an exotic international setting with the focus on Hong Kong. The use of locations gives an authentic atmosphere. The background is of gambling and the police in Hong Kong, local police as well as Interpol. The film shows the gambling casinos and their lifestyle and the possibilities of corruption. The villain of the film is an old mad descendant of the Chinese warlords and his amoral family. There is murder and financial corruption for control of the casinos. This gives the opportunity for Norris to act the part of detective, romantic hero as well as exhibit his abilities with the arts. There is quite an amount of action, more vigorous than for the small screen and more violent for R certificate. Nevertheless, Norris' generally pleasing personality sustains the film as a police action adventure.
