Fright Night Part 2

FRIGHT NIGHT PART 2

US, 1988, 104 minutes, Colour.
Roddy Mc Dowell, William Ragsdale, Traci Lin, Julie Carmen.
Directed by Tommy Lee Wallace.

Fright Night Part 2 is in the plot vein of the original - but lacks the original's flair. Fright Night was written and directed by Tom Holland (Child's Play, Psycho 3). This sequel is something of an exploitive variation on the original. It was directed by Tommy Lee Wallace (director of Halloween 3).

This film has the same hero, links with the original and Roddy Mc Dowell has the chance to replay his original role as the television vampire hunter. Julie Carman is exotic as the seductive vampire.

The film relishes its gore and horror rather than making the film and interesting horror nightmare.

1. The impact of the film in itself, as a sequel, horror nightmare?

2. The rerun of the original plot? The popularity of contemporary vampire films? Vampires on the screen and television - and the satire on the media? Psychological horror?

3. The campus, the ordinary life, the apartment block? Parties and style? The importance of the special effects and stunt work? The score?

4. Charlie's story: in itself, psychological? Alex? The dreams? Getting the help of Peter Vincent? The draining of the blood, weakness? Following the vampires? The test, the capture, imprisonment? The losing - and the final confrontation?

5. Peter Vincent and his show, the coward, his style, the studio, the party, the mirror, the asylum, the escape, the final battle, the ending?

6. Alex as heroine, attractive, relating, Mahler? The doctor at the asylum and her impersonation? The final confrontation?

7. The group: Regina, her appearances, seductive, the dreams, her entourage? The party, the dance, the punishment, Peter Vincent, the confrontation? Her brother, her assistants - and their death? Charlie's friend and his being vampirised?

8. The popularity of vampires, symbols of evil? The fable of the struggle between good and evil?
