Objectives of her visit:
- 1.To update churches, the Filipino community, religious groups, human rights advocates on the work of the RMP (Rural Missionaries of the Philippines) in organising the rural population and their experience of human rights violations, harassment, including the life and death of Father Fausto ‘Pops’ Tentorio, Italian PIME priest assassinated for his support of indigenous and peasant farmers in their struggle against foreign (including Australian) mining companies.
- 2.To encourage interest in the impact of mining in the Philippines, especially mines with Australian connections.
- 3.Link with and update politicians in Canberra and other locations on the issues above
- 4.Link up with Indigenous Australians on these issues.
