Police Academy VI: Mission to Moscow

Police Academy V1 continues the extraordinary run of Police Academy films. By the end of the series, it was becoming quite respectable and audiences were enjoying seeing, the same characters again and the film and its treatment were geared for the widest possible audience. This is true of the present

It is more strongly directed and written, has something of a plot involving a Mr Big and civic corruption and crime which retains the interest .

However, ample opportunity is given for the cast to go through their expected routines: George Gaynes has plenty of opportunity to do his absentminded but genial Inspector Lissarde, his nephew from the previous film is the straight man in the group. Tackleberry has violence once again (as well as a son), Michael Winslow does his sound impersonations and gets some good opportunities. The tough Leslie Easterbrook is able to flex muscles and frighten the men, Marion Ramsay is able to squeak but also to uphold the law. Bubba has his usual opportunity to look strong (and do some crocheting). The focus of ridicule is, as always, but here more strongly, on G.W. Bailey's Captain Harris and his inept assistant Proctor, played by Lance Kinsey. There is a great deal of humour on their behalf. Kenneth Mars is enjoyable as the eccentric mayor.

Once again, the film continues to use the formula but effectively enough to keep audiences interested and amused and attracted towards well-known characters.
