Nightmare on Elm Street VI: Freddy's Dead

FREDDY'S DEAD: THE FINAL NIGHTMARE

US, 1991, 96 minutes, Colour.
Robert Englund, Lisa Zane, Breckin Meyer, Roseanne, Yaphet Kotto, Johnny Depp, Alice Cooper.
Directed by Rachel Talalay.

Freddy's Dead, Nightmare on Elm Street 6, makes Freddy Kruger one of the most popular horror characters of the '80s and '90s. The plot of this film is much the same, plenty of waking nightmares and tormented teenagers. However, finally Freddy's daughter confronts the father to destroy him - using his own claws. While the plot is not new and the acting is less than startling, the use of 3D glasses for the final reel is, giving the finale at least some surface depth. This film is the end of a horror era.
