Cyborg is a futuristic action thriller. It is set in a squalid destroyed New York, shows us the American countryside from New Jersey to Georgia as well as a destroyed Atlanta.

The film was directed by Albert Pyun, who made The Sword and the Sorcerer (which this film sometimes resembles, especially in its crucifixion of the hero), and the futuristic Radioactive Dreams. The film is a kind of martial arts blend with the squalid and pessimistic future. There are many violent action sequences. Characterisation is minimal, the focus is on the strong man protecting the Cyborg going back to Atlanta with information about the cure for the plague and his violent confrontations with the grim and gruesome enemy.
