This film is based on a novel by James Michener (Tales from the South Pacific). It is a 19th century American pioneering story, two brothers (Harris Yulin and Stacy Keach) going to Ohio. There is wife and baby, building a cabin, rescuing a slave – followed by various marital complications.
The film perhaps is too rapid for all the material within one hundred minutes. However, given the strong cast, it has its entertaining moments.
