Bloodknot is a movie made for cable television. It is a variation on the theme of the stranger who comes into the life of a family and changes it, often for the worse. In this case a young woman, played by Kate Vernon, comes to the family whose son has just been killed in action in the Pacific. She claims to have been his girlfriend. She insinuates herself into the house, into the affections of the whole family. However, the girlfriend of the younger son is continually suspicious. There is a melodramatic ending - much less violence than might have been anticipated, and a twist on the identity of the young woman.
Kate Vernon is effective as the young woman and in the supporting cast are Patrick Dempsey as the infatuated brother and Margot Kidder as the mother.
