Borderline is a latter-day Charles Bronson vehicle. After emerging in the '60s as a tough, even though ageing, hero, Bronson made his name in many action films of the '70s. By 1980, his popularity had diminished, he had grown older. However, he still continued to make feature films with some popularity, especially on television... This is one of those films.

The plot focuses on the problems of the American-Mexican? border, with so many of the Mexicans finding ways to come across. The film shows American corruption and money-laundering, exploiting the plight of the Mexicans. The film resembles the Jack Nicholson-Valerie? Perrine vehicle, The Border, directed by Tony Richardson. A much more realistic picture of migrants was given in Gregory Nava's El Norte (1984).
