Blade is a contemporary vampire film. It is based on Marvel comics.

Blade is a hybrid character, part human, part of vampire. His mission is to destroy vampires, who are hidden in ordinary society, ranging from board members of companies to reveling partygoers to an ambitious young vampire called Frost. The film builds up to a confrontation between Blade and Frost.

In the meantime, the there are many shootouts role as well as confrontations with swords and knives. The film is quite brutal in its visuals at times.
Blade is played by Wesley snipes. Frost is played by Stephen Dorff. Blade has an elderly mentor, inventor, producer of serums the course of his need for blood. He is played by Kris Kristofferson.

The film is dark, both in visuals and themes. It was followed by a sequel the year after its release. Then, played Trinity, was released six years later. The films a similar in themes, with the presence of Snipes and Kristofferson. But there is an ugliness about the films.
