Plutonium is a German telemovie produced in the years when there was world concern about nuclear issues. In the early 80s, America produced several telemovie including The Day After, the dropping of the bomb and the reaction in Lawrence, Kansas. Other films included Testimony as well as the film about industrial espionage, Silkwood.
Plutonium has all these elements, the nuclear issues, industrial espionage, international lobbies. The film also offers the opportunity for audiences to reflect on the stealing of nuclear matter and its falling into the hands of terrorists.
Director Rainer Erler had a long career in making television films and series.
