NEXT FRIDAY
US, 2000, 98 minutes, Colour.
Ice Cube, Mike Epps, Justin Pierce, John Witherspoon, Tommy "Tiny" Lister.
Directed by Steve Carr.
With the trend of the 90s favouring African- American directors and casts, with local stories, gangster films about the good, comedies, Friday emerged as a very popular comedy and so a sequel, Friday, was perhaps inevitable.
Many of the cast of the original appear again, especially Ice Cube as the central character. There is his family – but there is a focus on a new character, an uncle who owes money and who house could be repossessed, with the result that the characters are looking how to get some money, especially from their neighbours, to help the uncle.
It is much of the same as the original – and the comments which can be found in the review of Friday apply here.
