Sex-obsessed American teens let loose in Europe (well at least in the Czech Republic with back drops for other cities like London, Paris and Rome). The geography is not too hot and they go a very circuitous route from Paris to Vienna. They get into all kinds of trouble as they try to find the hero’s penfriend in Austria (where they meet a six year old goosestepping, moustachioed child – it’s that kind of film).
The funniest section is a visit to the Vatican where they toll the bell that signals the Pope is dead and by a series of quirky accidents, they create a fire which gives off white smoke, try on mitres and are covered in curtains at the papal window – with the Pope watching it all on his own television. It’s not exactly worth sitting through the rest for this sequence.
More likeable than many teen movies, but it’s still silly and sex-obsessed.
