HARD KILL

US, 2020, 98 minutes, Colour.

Jesse Metcalfe, Bruce Willis, Lala Kent, Natalie Eva Marie, Texas Battle, Sergio Rizzuto.

Directed by Matt Eskandari.

Hard to Kill can be seen as another (just another) of the many (many) action dramas that featured Bruce Willis during the 2010s. Here he is extremely military, but a millionaire head of a corporation where his daughter has done research to find a program which will alleviate world tensions. However, a terrorist and his associates kidnap her, threaten her life, threaten the millionaire who then hires some mercenary forces as security and protection.

Jesse Metcalfe plays the head of the security group, seen initially in hard action, fierce shootouts, especially a confrontation with the head of the terrorists, called The Pardoner. The mercenary is seen as devout, committed, many wounds on his body, rounding up his associates to persuade them to take on the job which will pay well.

All the action takes place in a huge warehouse where the millionaire and his forces prepare to rescue the daughter, his acting as bait for the terrorists to come and attack.

And, this is what happens, cat and mouse sequences, millionaire and daughter captured and tied up, shootouts, some deaths and emotions, the daughter making the decision to delete all her research for the safety of the world.

Familiar enough material, familiar enough treatment – undemanding action show.
